Our Presence in Sudan
In Sudan, La Mancha has land holdings of in excess of 50,000 km2 in the Nubian Shield and draws on 20+ years of operating experience at the Hassaï mine. The Nubian Shield is a highly-prospective area with very little history of modern exploration, and is now fast emerging as one of the world's hot spots for large discoveries.
Our current activities
Hassaï is our major focus in Sudan at the moment. Having already produced 2.3 million ounces of gold, the mine is about to embark on an exciting second life as we prepare to develop the volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits underlying the open pits. The two-phase VMS project has the potential to increase the mine's production to over 450,000 ounces of gold equivalent per year. In addition to our activities at Hassaï, we are also investigating the potential of our other exploration holdings in Sudan, in the highly prospective Nubian shield.
